Transport Tickets

Last updated: June 2025 · Community verified

💡 Polish public transport is excellent, punctual, and cheap. Ticket inspectors are strict — always validate your ticket immediately after boarding.

The golden rule — always validate

Buying a ticket is not enough. You must skasować bilet (skah-SOH-vatch BEE-let = validate your ticket) in the yellow machine on board before sitting down. Unvalidated = no ticket. Fine: 266 PLN on the spot.

⚠️ The validator is called kasownik (kah-SOV-neek) — a yellow box near the door of every bus and tram. Tap your card or insert your paper ticket the moment you board.
